Dubai, 7th December, 2025 – In a significant move furthering ties between the United Arab Emirates and Ecuador, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, welcomed Daniel Noboa, President of the Republic of Ecuador, at Zabeel Palace in Dubai during an official visit.
The leaders held discussions on enhancing cooperation and expanding bilateral relations, with a focus on areas such as the economy, trade, investment, renewable energy, sustainability, tourism, agriculture, and the digital economy. Both parties reiterated their commitment to fostering progress in sectors vital to sustainable development and the long-term advancement of both nations.
The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State For International Cooperation; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State For Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World; and Ibrahim Salem Al Alawi, UAE Ambassador to Peru and Non-Resident Ambassador to Ecuador.
The Ecuadorian delegation included María Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility; Roberto Carlos Cory Pesantis, Minister of Communications and Information Society; and Felipe Rivadeneira, Ambassador of Ecuador to the UAE.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed President Noboa and affirmed the UAE’s keenness to expand its economic and development partnerships with Latin American countries, especially Ecuador, and to establish lasting ties based on shared interests, mutual respect, and common future aspirations. He also highlighted the UAE’s commitment, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to building effective development partnerships globally, emphasizing the importance of diversifying economic growth and creating new opportunities, particularly in renewable energy, the green economy, and the digital economy to support sustainable development for future generations.
On his part, Daniel Noboa conveyed greetings from the government and people of Ecuador and commended the UAE for its accomplishments. He expressed Ecuador’s keenness to diversify and expand economic and investment partnerships with the UAE, enhance bilateral trade and investment flows, and open new avenues for cooperation in tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, and modern technologies, aiming to contribute to sustained economic growth and broader development opportunities for both nations.
The discussions also covered various regional and international issues of common interest, with both sides stressing the importance of joint efforts to promote peace and stability regionally and globally. They underlined that such initiatives are vital for advancing development goals and fostering multilateral cooperation and prosperity.
Both delegations expressed satisfaction with the consistent growth in bilateral ties in recent years and outlined a vision to achieve a qualitative leap in cooperation. This vision includes encouraging practical partnerships between the public and private sectors of both countries to further shared development objectives.
