UAE Hosts European Ambassadors to Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Address Regional Developments Abu Dhabi, 17th September, 2025 – Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, hosted a meeting with European Ambassadors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deliberate on recent regional and international developments and explore avenues to reinforce cooperation between the UAE and European countries. During her address, Nusseibeh provided an overview of the recent Extraordinary Session of the Supreme Council of the GCC and the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha. She stressed the UAE’s unity and solidarity with Qatar in response to Israel’s cowardly attack on Doha. Nusseibeh welcomed the robust European support for the joint initiative by Saudi Arabia and France to broaden the recognition of the State of Palestine. Quoting Nusseibeh: “The future of Palestine continues to be the cornerstone of a peaceful future for the Middle East. In spite of the tremendous challenges we are facing today, we hold on to the vision of two independent countries, Palestine and Israel, living side by side, in peace with each other, and fully integrated in our shared neighborhood.” She also appreciated the overwhelming support in the UN General Assembly for the New York Declaration, highlighting the near unanimous European backing of the resolution, which emphasizes the importance of the two-state solution and calls for the exclusion of Hamas from any governance of Gaza. Reflecting on the fifth anniversary of the Abraham Accords, the minister reiterated the UAE’s warnings against policies propagated by extremist elements that could undermine the foundation and essence of the Accords. Turning to the civil war in Sudan, Nusseibeh emphasized the recent joint statement by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the United States, which welcomed renewed international commitment for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and the establishment of a timeline for a civilian-led government. She reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to collaborating closely with regional and international partners to foster dialogue, mobilize support, and contribute to initiatives addressing the humanitarian crisis and building the foundation for sustainable peace. On the crisis in Ukraine, she underscored the necessity of seeking a peaceful solution in line with International Law and the UN Charter, emphasizing the mitigation of humanitarian suffering. She mentioned the UAE’s ongoing mediation efforts, particularly the exchange of over 4,600 war captives between the two sides. In the economic domain, Nusseibeh highlighted the mutual benefits of liberalizing trade between the UAE and European countries, commending progress in the negotiations of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the EU, as well as similar agreements with countries outside the EU. She called on European countries to help create the political momentum needed for a swift conclusion of trade talks, aiming to bring immediate and tangible economic benefits to the people of the UAE and Europe.
