Oman Investment Authority Expands Global Reach with Participation in Hong Kong’s Belt and Road Summit
Reflecting its drive to expand international partnerships, strengthen investment and economic relationships, and explore opportunities in future-focused sectors, the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) recently participated in the Belt and Road Summit 2026 held in Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China. The Omani delegation was headed by H.E. Muneer bin Ali Al Muneeri, Deputy President for Operations at Oman Investment Authority.
The delegation included a number of key institutions and companies, such as the International Financial Centre of Oman, Future Fund Oman, and several OIA portfolio companies. OIA’s participation at this prestigious event marks yet another milestone in its strategy to double the “Omani Angle” of its international investments.
A highlight of the summit was the signing of a pivotal investment agreement with Hong Kong’s Innovation and Technology Commission and China-based Templewater. According to the agreement, OIA will commit 25% of the capital of the Templewater Innovation Fund, while the Fund will allocate 50% of its total fund size to investments in the Sultanate of Oman. This strategic move is expected to foster the development of innovation and technology in Oman, and to open new channels for capital flow and expertise between Oman, Hong Kong, and mainland China.
OIA’s presence at the Belt and Road Summit also provided valuable exposure to its companies, funds, and joint ventures. Participating entities and the public were given the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into OIA’s diverse portfolio and the investment opportunities available within the Sultanate.
The summit further facilitated constructive dialogue and networking with international stakeholders. Group visits, including a notable meeting at Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary’s Office, underscored the intent to deepen economic cooperation and shared development in areas such as infrastructure, technology, and finance.
OIA’s international engagement, as showcased at the Belt and Road Summit, demonstrates its renewed commitment to connecting Oman with global markets, emerging technologies, and partnerships that drive inclusive growth for the nation.
