AIN SOKHNA PORT, Egypt, 18th June 2025 – DP World Egypt has demonstrated its robust operational capabilities this month by handling a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), the country’s largest iron ore shipment, and the Aroya cruise ship at its Ain Sokhna Port. These diverse arrivals highlight the port’s strategic significance in advancing Egypt’s trade, energy, and tourism goals.

The Energos Eskimo, a Floating Storage Regasification Unit operated by New Fortress Energy (NFE), recently docked at the Sokhna facility to undergo a series of specialised technical upgrades, including high-pressure gas manifold modifications. These advances are in preparation for the vessel’s upcoming operations at SUMED Port, where it will begin injecting natural gas into Egypt’s national grid.

Further underscoring the port’s growing prominence, the Berge Kuju, a 300-metre dry bulk vessel arriving from Brazil, delivered 180,008 tonnes of iron ore destined for Ezz Steel. This shipment marks the largest iron ore consignment ever received at an Egyptian port and is part of a long-term strategic agreement supporting more than 6 million tonnes of annual iron ore throughput at Sokhna.

On the tourism front, Sokhna Port hosted the Aroya cruise ship, accommodating 2,300 passengers during its second scheduled visit under an annual agreement with Cruise Saudi.

“DP World Egypt continues to prove its ability to manage diverse vessel types with efficiency and precision, from LNG carriers and dry bulk ships to cruise liners,” said Mohammad Shihab, Chief Executive Officer, DP World Egypt.

Sokhna Port’s strategic location and advanced infrastructure have positioned it as a vital link between Egypt, East and North Africa, Asia, and beyond, facilitating major trade flows and supporting the country’s economic development objectives.

As part of its commitment to ongoing advancement, DP World Sokhna is currently implementing the $80 million Sokhna Logistics Park project.
