Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan Inaugurates World Utilities Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, 27 May 2025 — Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, officially opened the World Utilities Congress 2025 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. Hosted by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), the event will run until 29th May, offering a comprehensive platform for global collaboration on the future of energy and water utilities.
During his tour of the exhibition, Sheikh Khalifa reviewed the latest innovations in utility technologies, with a focus on sustainable energy and water management. He noted the significant contributions of leading local companies in shaping the next generation of utility solutions.
Themed “Innovating for a New Age of Utilities”, this year’s congress underscores the importance of sustainability, innovation, and international cooperation in the utilities industry. Sheikh Khalifa praised the conference for “promoting sustainability and advancing international cooperation in the utilities sector,” emphasizing its role as a key facilitator for progress in sustainable energy and water technologies.
Day one of the event featured high-level ministerial panels addressing the alignment of energy strategies with COP30 climate goals and examining the balance between economic growth and sustainability in emerging markets. Discussions included topics such as achieving net-zero emissions, advancing energy storage solutions, exploring the role of nuclear power, and tackling water scarcity. Participants also explored the potential for cross-border power interconnectivity to enhance regional energy security.
A prominent feature of the congress is the Innovation Hub, which highlighted breakthrough technologies that are set to transform the utilities sector. From advanced grid systems to water recycling innovations, the hub served as a showcase for the cutting-edge developments expected to drive the industry forward.
The World Utilities Congress 2025 is poised to attract over 18,000 professionals and more than 500 speakers participating in 120 panel sessions. It continues to serve as an essential gathering space for thought leaders and industry experts to share knowledge, foster partnerships, and drive progress towards a cleaner, more resilient utilities future.
