DMCC Hosts Nordic Ambassadors and Business Leaders to Strengthen Dubai-Nordic Ties
Dubai – The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) reaffirmed its position as a global business nexus by hosting the Ambassadors of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, alongside senior Nordic business leaders, at the DMCC Nordic Executive Luncheon held at Almas Tower and the Dubai Diamond Exchange.
With a dynamic community comprising more than 320 Nordic companies, DMCC continues to drive partnerships between the UAE and the Nordic region. As the leading trading nation from the Middle East and GCC with the Nordics, the UAE leverages Dubai as the primary platform for Nordic expansion into global markets.
The discussions at the luncheon focused on accelerating two-way growth in sectors such as shipping and logistics, international trade and tourism, technology and gaming, coffee and specialty agriculture, as well as the integration of AI, Web3, and quantum technology. The forum also highlighted Dubai’s increasing momentum in technology, energy transition, and digitized trade corridors, exemplified by the growing presence of Nordic business and cultural initiatives across the city.
The Nordic region stands out for its deep cultural bonds—rooted in shared history, lifestyle, religion, and socio-economic models—and for remarkable economic achievements. The four countries are ranked among the world’s richest in GDP per capita, collectively contributing nearly USD 1.8 trillion in GDP, which ranks as the tenth largest economy globally. The Nordics have outpaced the Eurozone in economic growth over the past decade and have maintained robust institutional cooperation since 1962, following the Helsinki Treaty that established the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Renowned for excelling in education, competitiveness, quality of life, human development, and civil liberties, the Nordics are also global leaders in sectors like shipping, logistics, technology, and sustainability.
Expressing gratitude for the occasion, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO at DMCC, stated:
“It was a privilege to host H.E. Ambassador Anders Bjørn Hansen of Denmark, Her Excellency Tuula Yrjölä of Finland, H.E. Ambassador Olav Myklebust of Norway and H.E. Ambassador Fredrik Florén of Sweden. DMCC remains a global hub for sustainability, innovation and trade, enabling growth across commodities, technology, energy, fintech and AI from Dubai, and serving as the gateway for Nordic enterprises to connect with new opportunities.”
By fostering collaboration in innovation, sustainability, and trade, DMCC continues to position Dubai as a gateway for emerging opportunities—reinforcing the city’s reputation as a thriving hub for Nordic enterprises seeking growth and international reach.
