Dubai and Australia Celebrate Milestone in Trade and Investment Relations
A historic chapter unfolds in the Dubai-Australia connection as senior business leaders and stakeholders gathered to celebrate the ongoing success and growth of Dubai-based businesses in Australia. The event, marked by both optimism and unity, highlights the remarkable journey since Sophia Demetriades Toftdahl, Chief Representative Australia for Dubai Chambers, began leading the ANZ trade and investment office from Sydney two years ago.
Reflecting on her journey, Sophia Demetriades Toftdahl shared, “Two years ago I started working for Dubai Chambers heading up the ANZ trade and investment office from Sydney.” She recounted a fortuitous meeting with Sana Sohail from Allegiance Real Estate just before her induction at Dubai Chambers. This meeting sowed the seeds for further collaboration, resulting in Allegiance Real Estate registering its office in Australia in January this year—a move that caters to the growing interest among Australians in Dubai’s property market.
The event, held in an intimate setting, brought together influential names such as DP World, Emirates, dnata, Godolphin, Aramex Australia, Crystalbrook Collection, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Arada Australia, DAMAC Group, and the recently established Allegiance Real Estate. Attendees also included esteemed representatives from The Australian Financial Review, further highlighting the significance of the occasion.
The collaborative spirit was underscored with the attendance of notable figures such as Salem Al Shamsi, VP International Relations, and Marwan Al Marri, Regional Director Asia at Dubai International Chamber. Their presence, as emphasized by Sophia Demetriades Toftdahl, was deeply appreciated: “Special thanks to Salem Al Shamsi, VP International Relations, and Marwan Al Marri, Regional Director Asia at Dubai International Chamber for their valuable presence.”
In a symbolic gesture celebrating unity and sustainability, Allegiance Real Estate hosted the event in their elegant space and facilitated the planting of 10 trees for each participant through Evertreen, reinforcing the commitment to growth—both economic and environmental.
This milestone event not only commemorates the burgeoning relationship between Dubai and Australia but also serves as a testament to the robust trade and investment links being forged. As the network of Dubai Chambers Chiefs expands globally—now standing at 37 and aiming for 50 by 2030—the foundations of economic and cultural collaboration between the UAE and Australia continue to strengthen under the shared vision of progress and allegiance.
