Emirates SkyCargo Launches Aircraft Engines: A Precision-Focused Cargo Solution for Aviation
Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world’s largest international airline, has launched Aircraft Engines, a specialised logistical product developed specifically for the movement of aviation’s most critical components. Falling under its newly introduced vertical, Aerospace and Engineering, this dedicated solution is tailored to manage the high-value, complex, and time-sensitive transportation needs of aircraft engines, delivering a seamless and efficient end-to-end service.
According to Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, “Moving highly specialised items is always an exciting challenge, and, having significantly invested in building world-class infrastructure across our network, it’s a challenge that we are ready to meet. Harnessing the technical expertise of our team, our proprietary and innovative technology and fit-for-purpose infrastructure, we liaised closely with various stakeholders to develop Aircraft Engines and a dedicated product vertical, to ensure we were able to cater to such valuable and technical cargo at every touchpoint.”
Aircraft engines, emblematic of modern engineering, require specialist handling, precise logistics, and critical delivery timelines due to their usage in maintenance, repair, and replacement. To address these specifics, Emirates SkyCargo has collaborated closely with manufacturers, operators, and external consultants to create a robust handling system for transporting engines. The result is a highly specialised offering that ensures the safe, secure, and speedy movement of these essential components.
Every aspect of the Aircraft Engines service is designed for peace of mind and precision handling. The process is supervised by certified loadmasters, who oversee the loading, securing, and unloading of engines using advanced techniques and equipment. This includes the use of shock absorbing transport dollies to mitigate impact during transfers. Meanwhile, the Emirates control tower team tracks every shipment throughout its journey to ensure timely deliveries, with customers having the option to access real-time updates via supplemental tracking devices.
To reduce aircraft ground time — which can cost airlines significantly — Aircraft Engines shipments are given the highest loading priority across Emirates SkyCargo’s global network. A dedicated team located in key international markets also supports the service, offering round-the-clock consultation through a dedicated hotline and email, providing customers with fast responses and fluid communication.
Backed by Emirates’ wide network, competitive connection times, and ability to rapidly reroute freighters, Aircraft Engines ensures unmatched delivery performance for customers in the aerospace and aviation industry.
The unveiling of Aerospace and Engineering focuses on providing bespoke logistical solutions to industries that require the highest levels of accuracy, handling expertise, and urgency. Target customers include commercial aviation companies, aircraft manufacturers, defence organisations, suppliers of parts and systems, as well as space technology producers and government agencies with security-sensitive shipments.
In addition to Aircraft Engines, the vertical features the Emirates AOG (Aircraft on Ground) product, which focuses on time-critical aircraft part shipments. Newly designed ‘Must Go’ bags, marked with ‘CARGO’, have been introduced to prioritise these shipments with even more distinction and urgency.
More subcategories under the Aerospace and Engineering umbrella are currently in development, aimed at providing an even more comprehensive portfolio to Emirates SkyCargo’s global clients.
Already a first-choice operator for critical aerospace cargo, Emirates SkyCargo handles hundreds of engine shipments annually and has been involved in key aerospace projects. These include transporting the KhalifaSat, the UAE’s first Emirati-built satellite, from Dubai to South Korea and moving nanosatellites for global IoT connectivity from Paris to Auckland. These pivotal missions have provided valuable experience that has now been channelled into the development of this specialised offering.
Through this strategic expansion, Emirates SkyCargo reinforces its commitment to serving the growing demands of the aerospace, aviation, and engineering sectors with unmatched speed, reliability, and precision.
