President of Paraguay Strengthens Bilateral Ties During Official Visit to UAE
ABU DHABI, 27th May 2025 — In a significant step towards enhancing diplomatic and economic relations, Santiago Peña Palacios, President of the Republic of Paraguay, met with Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates. The meeting took place at the President’s residence in Abu Dhabi and marked a further deepening of cooperation between the two countries.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak warmly welcomed President Peña’s historic visit, affirming that it reflects the mutual respect and sincere commitment shared by both nations to enhance bilateral ties. He emphasized the importance of the visit as an opportunity to exchange perspectives on pressing global challenges while exploring joint avenues for sustainable development, investment, and cultural exchange.
During their discussions, the two leaders reviewed the progress in key areas of joint cooperation, commending the fruitful steps taken to date. They agreed on the need to build further on recent achievements by focusing on strategic sectors including agriculture, technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
President Peña expressed his deep admiration for the UAE’s impressive development achievements and underscored his country’s respect for the nation’s pioneering role at regional and international levels. He stated, “We greatly appreciate the UAE’s outstanding achievements on local, regional, and international levels.”
He also highlighted Paraguay’s strong interest in deepening ties with the UAE, citing the Emirates’ dynamic investment landscape and leading role in promoting global sustainability. “Paraguay is keen to enhance its political and economic relations with the UAE in a way that serves the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples,” he added.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their confidence that bilateral relations are on a path of steady growth and mutual benefit, driven by the shared vision of their leadership and the longstanding values of friendship and cooperation.
They also reaffirmed their support for joint work within international forums to uphold humanitarian values, promote inclusive development, and bolster regional and global security and stability.
